DISCERN BOTH GOOD AND EVIL

ID-100208045

“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14).

By nature, one can’t remain as a baby for a very long time. From the stage of being a baby, one goes through several developmental stages until adulthood is reached. This scenario also applies to the Christian growth. One has to grow from a ‘baby Christian’ after born again to a ‘matured Christian’. It must be emphasized that this process depends on time although some persons spiritually grow faster than others.

‘Baby Christians’ have many limitation for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). As they receive knowledge from God’s word, they develop and gradually exhibit the nature of God which is already resident in their spirits. The 5 senses are influenced to discern both good and evil. One is able to know for a fact that Jesus Christ has overcome the world and sin cannot have dominion. Therefore, in cases where the ‘baby Christian’ sins or commits errors, the ‘matured Christian’ is smart to discern and refrain. It takes a conscious effort to discern and refrain from sin and evil. The Holy Spirit is always there to minister to us to do God’s will all the time. Amen.

DO THE WORD BECAUSE OF LOVE…..

ID-100131601

If ye love me, keep my commandments John 14:15.

The issue of sin always comes up in Christendom. The way it is presented by some Christians sometimes  repels some unbelievers and they never would want to become Christians. Let us be patient towards newly born again Christians when they err or commit sin. Jesus said that “….Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God (Matthew 22:29). As we all learn and do the word (John 14:15), our lives are improved and the amount of errors we commit reduces greatly if not completely.

This is the mindset we have to have- that because we love God (although He first loved us), we are not going to commit sin as we do His word; rather than having the mindset that God will seriously punish us when we sin. Although God chastises us sometimes, we should not see God as someone who is always judging and punishing His children for every errors or sins they commit. God is bigger than that and He loves us so much. Even when we were unbelievers (sinners), God loved us. He loves us even more now that we are His children. Don’t forget that ‘babies’ sin all the time but when one is matured in Christ, sin is put behind.
