HOW DO YOU START A BUSINESS OF YOUR OWN?

Be certain that you want to start your own business not because you are necessarily unemployment and would want to get your hands on just something. Starting your own business is a bit difficult than searching for a new job in other companies. There are several sacrifices that you need to make when starting your own business.

Decide on the area to invest in. You need to do some extensive business prospecting and also consult your inner spirit to be sure on the area to invest in. Will a retail business or wholesale business do the trick? Will you be better off going into consultancy? This task is very important because if you get it wrong here, the business will definitely fail.

Do some research on the chosen area of investment. You must not rush into making a choice so soon and start pumping in capital. Research on the amount of capital you need to inject into the new business from the scratch. Determine the return on investment and how long it will take for the business to payback the investment. Determine the number of competitors and their spread. Determine the market share of your competitors. There are several businesses with many competitors not widely dispersed. As a new entrant into such businesses, you are likely to get into difficulties when it comes to recouping your investments.

The market research will help you to develop a business plan for your future business. The business plan may not be necessarily long but must answer very salient questions such as the type of venture; the number of competitors; pricing; costs; return on investment; payback period, management structure etc. More often than not, the business plan lays out the details of business establishment; business running and returns over a period of time. The business plan must be such that anybody who takes it clearly understand it and is able to implement the plan independent of the person who developed it. The business plan is an important tool to obtain loan from financial institutions.

Several business structures exist and as an aspiring entrepreneur, you got to select a business structure of your choice. Will your business be sole proprietorship,  partnership with others or limited liability etc.? All these have their advantages and disadvantages. 

A business is run by several experts such as an accountant, human resource officer, receptionist etc. You need to get your team in place and this depends mainly on the demands of the business. At the inception of the business, an accountant is usually needed to manage the cash flow. You also need virtual advisors such as an attorney and a business advisor.

Get some other things in place! You may need to register your business officially; get an internet domain for your business and ensure that your business fits with all the national requirement of your country.

WHY DO WE PRAY?

Prayer is an important part of every religion. Even non-religious persons sometimes say some prayers especially when challenges arise. In Christianity, prayer is a privilege granted to the child of God to have fellowship with the God-head. How do we feel when we are having great fellowships with our earthly parents? We feel very accepted and confident at home and wherever we find ourselves. We may not be liked by our peers in school for several reasons but so long us we know that we are loved by our parents and always have fellowship, we are at least ok.

As we pray, we make investment in eternity. It can be likened to buying of shares in an investment market. As we buy shares, we are confident that in future we will get some returns on our investment. Of course it is true that sometimes, we make losses on our investments but prayer as a form of investment comes with no losses! We may be enjoying some blessings now because of the prayers we made some years back or because of the prayers of loved ones which were made some years back.

As we pray, the eyes of our understanding are enlightened. We are able to understand the scriptures more and obey the scriptures. Our spirits are tuned up to receive encouragement and revelations from God to be able to impact on the world around us. We are able to get more understanding about situations around us and to know the right things to do and at what time to do these right things. We are able to connect to the ideas and visions of God concerning situations in our lives.

Prayer makes tremendous power or strength available for the child of God. Power is the ability to cause changes. A lot of activities go on in the spiritual realm. Things that happen in the physical realm have some connections in the spiritual realm. As we pray, we are able to cause changes in the spiritual realm and later see these changes in the physical realm.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 states that we should pray without ceasing. This shows us how important prayer is to the child of God. If you abrogate the communion between you and your loving father, several negative consequences can result therefore the need to always commune with the father. Scripture is replete with several instances where prayers were said and positive results were achieved. In the book of Acts, the church prayed for imprisoned Peter and an angel rescued him from prison. Several miracles of Jesus were done after He had prayed.

SEED TIME AND HARVEST

ID-100180478Gen 8:22. While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Investment is a characteristic of every human being especially the child of God. What is important about investment is that, there are always specific times for seed sowing (investment) but when it comes to harvesting or reaping the yield of our investment, it is not time specific compared to seed sowing (investment). Harvesting is a continuous process.

What to invest in is also very important. Beyond investment market predictions on the internet and in books, which are very important, we also need to contact our inner spirit to lead us to identify the right sector to invest in. It is also important to have some knowledge on the areas of interest for investment. Though important, the initial capital is not enough to start the investment. If you have the initial capital, read to broaden your horizon on possible areas of investment and also talk to the experts for advise. When you have finished all the readings, consultations and have narrowed down to some few possible areas of promising investment area(s), then you can now contact your spirit through faith in the Holy Spirit to make a final choice.

How do you know that a particular option is the best to pick and invest in? This is where prayer in other tongues becomes important. Praying in tongues builds you up and makes you sensitive to receiving from the Holy Spirit. Getting acquainted with the word of God is also necessary for us to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. The right area(s) of investment to choose will drop into your spirit and will be characterized by peace in your spirit. Sometimes, you can make a choice but as you continue praying, it appears as if ‘something’ is holding or pushing back your prayer. In your spirit, you will feel uneasy and this is where you need to re-examine your intended choice. Sometimes too, because you don’t have enough information about the area of investment, you will feel inadequate and uneasy though that area(s) may be the choice of the Holy Spirit for you.

All said and done, the right choice comes with the peace of God and confirmation from the Holy spirit. By confirmation, you may have a dream about the selected choice; a friend or your wife or husband may mention it to you when in actual sense, that was not the focus of your conversation.  To conclude, time in itself is seed for every human being. What you do with your time is an investment. Let us always use our time wisely and make impact on the world around us. Remember, you can only enjoy a harvest after investment.

WHERE TO INVEST

A major characteristic of man is the ability to invest and make returns. For any production to be successful, one needs to invest in the factors of production in order to accrue returns. In our homes, parents would want to invest in the education of their dependants so that these dependants can become responsible citizens in future. In terms of location, several examples of investment options are available. The critical question is this-Do we invest in our current places of residence (that is, our district) or in our country or in other countries? The area (location) where you invest matters so much. This article will briefly try to answer the above question within the context of the good book.

 An individual may be making progress through investment in a certain location. Another individual may want to replicate that success in the same location or elsewhere and make progress. Some other person may attempt and fail woefully. The fact that an individual is investing in a location and making progress does not mean you also have to invest in that location. Though God has said in His word that anything we do shall prosper, it is important to find out from God the specific location you as an individual can invest in to get more wealth or more prosperity. Genesis 26:12-13 states that “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great”. Isaac had the choice of relocating to Egypt where it appeared that he could make life better for himself and family but God advised him not to go but to invest his present location. In his days, more people were relocating to Egypt for greener pastures. Of course, some of these people may have made it there but for Isaac, God instructed him not to go.

When baby Jesus was born, Herod the king at the time was not comfortable and wanted to eliminate the child. God spoke to Joseph in a dream to relocate to Egypt with his family (Matthew 2:13-14). In one case, God did not allow Isaac to relocate to Egypt but in another case, God allowed Joseph to relocate to Egypt. What we can infer is this, where to invest is a personal matter. We should not base this on our senses- that is, by what we see around us. Our research may tell us that a particular investment location is promising but we need to go beyond research that is based on what we see, feel, touch, hear and smell and consult God to tell us the choice to make.
