DO THE WORD BECAUSE OF LOVE…..

ID-100131601

If ye love me, keep my commandments John 14:15.

The issue of sin always comes up in Christendom. The way it is presented by some Christians sometimes  repels some unbelievers and they never would want to become Christians. Let us be patient towards newly born again Christians when they err or commit sin. Jesus said that “….Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God (Matthew 22:29). As we all learn and do the word (John 14:15), our lives are improved and the amount of errors we commit reduces greatly if not completely.

This is the mindset we have to have- that because we love God (although He first loved us), we are not going to commit sin as we do His word; rather than having the mindset that God will seriously punish us when we sin. Although God chastises us sometimes, we should not see God as someone who is always judging and punishing His children for every errors or sins they commit. God is bigger than that and He loves us so much. Even when we were unbelievers (sinners), God loved us. He loves us even more now that we are His children. Don’t forget that ‘babies’ sin all the time but when one is matured in Christ, sin is put behind.

FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH

ID-100195288

An the word was made flesh,  and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth ( John 1: 14)

As children of God, we are also full of grace and truth because the bible says that “as He is, so are we in this world”. Grace means extra strength and unmerited favour. Truth is God’s word. Grace and truth gives us the urge in the affairs of this life and we become blessings to people. Let us be conscious of this and we shall always win!

CONSIDER CREATING A BUSINESS!

ID-100101199

When I was growing up, the system around me taught me that, I have to go to school and learn hard; complete a university or a tertiary institution; look for a job from existing companies or institutions and start working. I thought the process of getting an employment with companies was so easy until I continuously submitted applications to fill job vacancies of many companies for close to two years before being called for an interview by one of the companies I had applied to. Several mates of mine also had to wait for some number of years before landing on their first job even though some others were employed earlier than expected.

Many youths have associated themselves with the ideology of getting a job from already existing companies after school. I have come across several graduates of tertiary institutions moving from offices to offices to drop ‘application for employment letters’. Usually, the demeanour of such persons show how desperate they are for jobs and one can easily guess the number of years they may have been waiting to get employment. For how long can one wait to fill vacancies that may not exist?

Creativity is an innate and precious characteristic of man. God created Adam and Eve to dominate the earth. This implies that man has the ability to create using resources that God has already provided and even create out of nothing. Employers have been creative enough to establish businesses that provide good(s) or service(s) to members of the society. These employers located a need of society and have provided solutions to these need(s) in the form of businesses.

Each and every one of us is unique. What one person can do, another person may not be able to do. Each and every one of us has a unique style of creativity. Some of us can write songs; some are good in the arts; some are good in discovering new recipes; others are good in cleaning of clothes etc. What is important is to locate your style of creativity and develop it. The purpose of education is to sharpen our style of creativity for us to start unique activities including setting up of new businesses. All other necessities such as initial capital, logistics, human resource etc. come after locating your style of creativity.

To conclude, if you are a graduate who has been home for several years and looking for job and not getting one, then reconsider starting one. You may already be employed by existing companies but you can start a business of your own. Joseph, King Solomon, Isaac etc. were all businessmen and their businesses contributed to their prosperity. For King Solomon, he even traded in gold.

THE RESPONSIBILITY IS YOURS!

ID-100116571

In secondary school, I was part of a student body called Scriptural Union (SU) where we met periodically to learn the word of God and share with other students who were not born again. Our patron always encouraged us to study very well whilst we did the work of God on campus. There were a few students among us who devoted all their time for the work of Gospel and neglected the main purpose for which they were on campus, that is, to study, make good grades and get placement in a university.  At the end of three years, these students were ‘recognised’ as students of the word of God but could not pass their qualifying examinations to the university. The failure of these students even repelled some others from getting close to the SU! These students failed to balance their academic work with the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ on campus.

To reap a harvest, you must sow a seed. Seed sowing is a responsibility! More often than not, there is a part to play for God’s word to materialize in our lives. The gospel of Jesus Christ is replete with seed sowing and reaping a harvest. A typical example of seed sowing is that which was done by our heavenly father. Giving out Jesus Christ to die for our sins was a seed He sowed and now, He has reaped the whole world to Himself. It is now the responsibility of man to accept the provision of God by confessing Jesus as his/her personal saviour for salvation to complete. In fact, God in His omnipotent can operate on earth without man’s role but He would hardly do it because He has given the power of dominion on earth to man. God has given man has the power of choice so God will need the consent of man to operate with man on earth.

Matthew 7:7 states that “Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”. Jesus Christ made it clear to us that there is always a responsibility for us to play to enjoy the treasures of the kingdom although the treasures are already deposited in our spirits.

Again, Matthew 5:6 (“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”) clearly talks about our responsibility to desire for righteousness. The desire is likened to a seed which when sown will yield a harvest, that is, righteousness.
