BE FAITHFUL IN LITTLE …

Befaithfulin

It is commonplace to see people applying for new jobs and aspiring for higher positions. During interviews for jobs, one of the critical things that the interview panel assesses is the role played by the applicants in their previous job positions and why they are interested in the new job. The interview panel has keen interest in knowing the previous job experience of the applicants and are able to project if the suitable applicant can effectively occupy the new job position and deliver much more results than needed. In these interviews, applicants with no job experience are usually checked out of the selection process right from the onset. Why is past job experience usually one of the key considerations of an interview panel?

Luke 16:10 states that “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much”. David was able to conquer Goliath of Gath because he had had some encounters in the wilderness that at least suggest some level of experience and therefore his ability to face Goliath. The testimony and experience of David is seen in 1 Samuel 17: 34-36. It states “And David said unto Saul, thy servant kept his father’s sheep and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: and I went out after him and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defiled the armies of the living God”

Most of the time, past experience(s) tell us if we are able to surmount other future challenges that come our way. This is especially important in the career arena. There is always a starting point for everything. If you want to be a blessing to the world and amass wealth, you should be faithful in some ‘little’ activities. I know of somebody who has the best business proposal in his file and always going round looking for loan to start a big business but has no business experience. If this person had a small business operating successfully, financial institutions would have listened to his request for some loan to expand his business. Be faithful in some small business and the world would be ready to give some support to expand.

If you want to become the next president of your country or an organisation, you should be seen as actively participating in some unique leadership roles and advancing towards the post of a president. That is how it usually works. As a Christian, if you are not able to heal a ‘common’ headache, then it is possible you can’t heal a cancer! Secondly, God must be in the picture of your drive for success and greatness. Experience alone does not make the magic otherwise, Goliath would have won the battle because he was a man of war from his youth (1 Samuel 17:33).

THE PRAYER OF FAITH

ID-10091543

The Christian life is a life of faith. Faith is that which sustains us in our walk with the Father. Faith is actually a virtue of the child of God. It is by faith that we accepted Jesus Christ as our personal saviour and as a result received eternal life, that is, the God –kind of life. Romans 1:17 states that, “The just shall live by faith”. Hebrews 11:6 also states that “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”. The prayer of faith is said by the child of God who knows his/her identity in Christ. The prayer of faith works by discovering your rights and privileges in the bible. More often than not, the challenge of the Christian is a ‘word problem’, that is, lack of knowledge of the word of God.

We have several kinds of prayer and the prayer of faith is one of these kinds of prayer. This kind of prayer involves speaking God’s word about specific circumstances in order to bring about desired changes without entertaining doubts in our heart. The following scripture throws more light on the issue. “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whatsoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall ‘believe’ that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, ‘believe’ that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:22-24).

‘Believing’ as used in the above scripture is a fundamental requirement to get answers to our prayer of faith. To believe is to possess in the heart and it also means to accept that what you have prayed about ‘exists’ and therefore “act as such”. James 2 states that ‘… the devils also believe..’. The difference between the believe of the devils and the believe of the Christian is that, the believe of the Christian goes with action or works. The mountain as used in the scripture above refers to physical and spiritual obstacles and it is exciting to know that our Father has given us the power to make desired and positive changes in our environment.

WEALTH DOES NOT CHANGE CHARACTER BUT MAGNIFIES IT!

ID-100190290

A story is told of a child of God who was jobless for several years after completion of university. During the time of joblessness, he never missed church services on any day! His consistent presence in church services became so conspicuous that at some point, he was called an assistant pastor by some people in the church.

With time, this brother got married to a lady in the church but was still jobless. His wife had a job and being very submissive and supportive to her husband, she was helping the family with her income and also assisted her husband to engage in some petty trading.  Fortunately for this brother, he got a job with a petroleum company. This job changed his life overnight because he was earning fat salary and other benefits.

Soon, a once committed church member started giving many excuses for not turning up for church services. He missed church services several times and finally stopped attending church. He divorced his wife on the premise that the lady was not his heart desire but had to marry her for convenience. This brother remarried a colleague petroleum expert stationed in another location. A once devoted Christian became a womanizer who had new friends and regularly went to parties. Unfortunately, this brother had a fatal accident when he was returning from a party which closed at dawn. Since he was the one driving, he died together with a friend who was also sitting in front.

The above story is a typical example of what wealth can do to a child of God if not handled well. Fire is used for cooking sumptuous dishes but this same fire can be very destructive. The  temptation to say good bye to God when He has blessed us with wealth will always appear in our thought. How we handle that temptation determines whether we will continue to be in the faith or not. It will also determine the future blessings that will come our way. If God is able to trust you with little, He can also trust you with much. Wealth should not draw us away from God but rather it should strengthen our relationship with Him. I have come across several wealthy Christians who have invested part of their wealth in the propagation of the gospel of Christ and have been consistent in their walk with God.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

ID-10086865

As a Christian, don’t desire to be like someone else. You are unique in every respect so have value for yourself. The first person you always have is you before anyone else. Always be happy about you and make it a point to always bring out the best in you- this is your responsibility. As individuals, we can be referred to as ‘seeds’. As ‘seeds’, what kind of crop(s) are we producing or are going to produce? To produce the right kind of crop(s), we must sow good seeds into our personality. Words are a type of ‘seed’.  Always speak the right words into your personality. You are the harvest of the seeds that were sown into you sometime back. If you are not happy with the harvest you have now, make adjustments by introducing new seeds. Let God’s word always be the foundation of what you speak into your life. Sow the right seeds from God’s word. Your life go in the direction of your words.

Refuse to let anybody demean you and you likewise as an individual should not demean anybody. You are better than the demeaning words you hear about yourself. If you accept demeaning words about yourself, you are making the word of God of non-effect in your life. God’s word is always potent but it is the responsibility of the child of God to make God’s word potent in our lives- you must believe God’s word. The life of the child of God has to be glorious because bible says that, we are the light of the world. If we speak demeaning words about people, we destroy the programming of good in us. Love people because God loves them. Love people because they are more valuable than the few errors they may have committed.

Quit trying to change other people. See people the way God sees them. Love people the way they are. Our responsibility is to show people the picture of Jesus and that can make a great difference in their lives. Any change we may desire in people is brought about by the Holy Ghost. Let us allow the Holy Ghost to perform His work in the lives of people who we think have to maybe change in character!

Quit judging other people. When you judge people, you are only expressing what you don’t like about those people. It may not necessarily mean that the things you dislike are evil or bad. Appreciate other people the way they are. Choose to see the good part in people and mind your own business rather than always trying to find faults to capitalize on them for our own parochial gains. Propagate love even in spite of the faults of others and you will always enjoy the glorious life.
