Some years ago as a young student in elementary school, responsibilities were ‘imposed’ on us! Instead of voting to elect the head prefect, assistance head prefect, sports prefect and compound prefect, the head mistress chose to nominate pupils to fill these positions. There was nothing like modern day democracy where elections are held to elect pupils to fill leadership positions. Though most students did not like this type of administration because of the responsibilities that go with them, it helped those who willingly accepted the nominations. It is a good development that in this modern day era, most elementary schools now elect their leaders.

Responsibilities come in different levels. Some are difficult than others, however, we must learn that responsibility is the price we pay for greatness. More often than not, the level of difficulty of responsibilities is directly proportional to the level of greatness. For instance, the president of a nation has relatively more responsibilities than a family man managing the affairs of a family of 3. Due to the different levels of difficulty of responsibilities, the president o f a nation will enjoy more privileges than a family man managing the affairs of a family of 3. Responsibilities always come before promotion so if you are someone who shies away from responsibilities, then promotion will also be far from you. Always see responsibilities as opportunities in disguise for promotion.

Scriptures talks about Esther and Mordecai who took up some vital responsibilities and were able to save the jews from extinction in the Kingdom of King Ahasuerus. Wherever Joseph was, he took up responsibilities, even as a young child. Joseph was responsible for taking food to his brothers in the field; managed the house of Portipha until he was thrown into jail. Even in jail, he was responsible for several things and finally became the prime minister of Ancient Egypt. Indeed, responsibilities portray the level of grace on your life. More grace means more responsibilities.

How do you get opportunities?

-by a search. If opportunities refuse to come, go to where it is. Matthew 7:7.

-by prayer, you can locate opportunities.

-create opportunities for yourself.
